Duolingo

Duolingo is a fun and interesting way to learn a new language. After creating an account, users work through increasingly difficult language-learning exercises or activities, unlocking new ones as you successfully complete each exercise (working between translation, listening, speaking, and photo recognition exercises). The activities are styled much like a video game, which adds an addicting element to it, and the app keeps track of your progress, allowing you to continue where you left off no matter where you are. While the exercises and activities are fun and interesting enough, Duolingo has a social aspect that makes the app even more interesting, After successfully completing a number of exercises, Duolingo offers you the option of practicing by translating a real web page between your native language and your chosen language. Your translation is then compared to other users’ translations, and then rated by the app and by other users. The “best” or most highly-rated translation is then used to make the web available in more languages. In our opinion, Duolingo is the most fun and interesting language-learning tool we’ve found, and it doesn’t hurt that you’re possibly improving the internet experience for others while learning.
